Introduction to Vascular and Interventional Centre

Vascular and Interventional Centre (VIC) is fully dedicated to treating patients. The program offers state-of-the-art minimally invasive techniques with the aim of achieving better patient outcomes and is a comprehensive program that encompasses clinical research, education, and patient care. This is a groundbreaking program and the first of its kind in this region. What is unique about this program is the complementary medicine, which aims to treat the underlying diseases resulting in urinary disorder and dialysis access dysfunction. VIC has already established its capabilities in dialysis and renal access intervention, and it will only be a matter of time before it becomes the center of choice for patients with the above problems from this region and even beyond. The quality and scope of care provided is first class and will undoubtedly benefit multitudes of patients suffering from said diseases.

    1. Understanding Varicose Veins and its Treatment

Varicose veins can be caused due to a variety of different factors. Most commonly, they are due to genetics. Other factors can include age, gender (women tend to get this more often), pregnancy, obesity, prolonged standing, and leg trauma. Also, varicose veins do tend to worsen over time if not treated and sometimes can lead to more serious conditions.

Healthy leg veins contain valves that open and close to assist the return of blood back to the heart. The leg muscles act as a second pump with the veins to propel the blood to the heart. If the valves do not function properly, blood can flow backwards and pool in the lower leg veins. This can cause the development of varicose veins. The symptoms may include leg swelling, heaviness, cramping, fatigue, and an achy or itchy feeling in the legs.

Varicose veins are a very common disease of the legs that cause unsightly bulging, swelling, and discomfort. They affect up to 25 percent of women and 15 percent of men. Varicose veins are twisted, enlarged veins close to the surface of the skin. Although they can occur anywhere in the body, they are most commonly found in the legs and thighs. Finding a varicose veins doctor Singapore is important for your treatment.

    1. Minimally Invasive Treatments for Varicose Veins

Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy is a useful technique for treating larger varicose veins that would normally be treated with surgical stripping. The procedure involves a sonographer (ultrasound technologist) scanning the patient’s leg to map out the anatomy of the varicose veins. A vascular surgeon will then inject a small amount of sclerosant into the vein. The sclerosant damages the inner lining of the vein and over a period of weeks, the vein will close and fade away. This is typically very effective, and unlike surgical stripping, only requires a small needle poke in the skin without the need for any incisions. This treatment is also virtually painless with most patients not even requiring local anesthetic for the injections.

Endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) is a new minimally invasive technique used to treat varicose veins. A very thin laser fiber is inserted into the damaged vein through a small needle. The fiber is slowly withdrawn, releasing pulses of laser light. This light heats the vein and seals the vein shut. The patient is able to walk out and drive home following the procedure and there are minimal activity restrictions following the treatment.

    1. Vascular Vein Disease: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments

The cause of vascular vein disease is still not fully understood. It is still unsure as to whether these diseases are simply a result of aging or if they are caused by other medical conditions. Smaller blood vessels within the body are prevented from functioning properly due to damage to the veins. This is due to reflux, which causes blood that would usually be carried by arteries close to the skin back to the feet. This occurs due to the fact that the blood would commonly be pushed upwards against gravity. If valve failure occurs, blood will collect in the veins and will lead to various painful and uncomfortable symptoms.

Vascular vein diseases can be understood as the weakening or infection of blood vessels in the body. Though it is known that these diseases are highly common, the progression the diseases will follow and the potential harm that each can create is highly diverse. In order to properly understand what course of action should be taken, individuals must understand the disease they have been diagnosed with and the potential threats that it may cause. For those seeking help, vascular vein disease treatment is available in Singapore.

    1. Why Choose Vascular and Interventional Centre for Vascular Conditions?

One increasingly recognized definition of health is that it is a state of well-being, an equilibrium that the individual establishes within the limitations of his/her circumstances. Health is a dynamic state that requires maintenance and constant adjustment. This is in contrast to the traditional view which saw health as the absence of disease. For many people, this state of equilibrium is disrupted by the presence of illness. Chronic diseases often disturb the equilibrium to the extent that it becomes the focal point in the life of an individual. Attempts to achieve relief are costly in terms of physical, emotional, and financial aspects. Therefore, any attempt to alleviate the presence of disease in chronic illness without creating further disturbances is a welcome mode of therapy. Interventional radiology promises to do this. By minimizing trauma in restoring health to the patient, intervention in the form of percutaneous therapy is the logical extension of diagnostic imaging into therapy. This is what most patients with chronic illnesses seek. Using the example of a peripheral angioplasty, patients with lower limb ischemia hope to achieve symptomatic relief and improvement in ambulation without undergoing a surgical procedure and its attendant risks and limitations. With the current advances in technology, the role of interventional radiology will continue to grow, benefiting many patients in different aspects of their health. Varicose veins treatment is available in Singapore.
